BLACK IDENTITY
Exhibition - June 15th - July 13th
#BLACKiD will be the second installment of the Black Identity art exhibition curated by Laura Gibson of Chiliad Creatives and Don Dudley of FOiR in concert with The Carr Center. Black Identity celebrates and investigates the many intersections of black culture such as sex, music, politics, racism and all aspects of the diasporic lineage of Black people. The exhibition features a diverse range of artists spanning a variety of mediums comprised mostly of artists from Detroit and surrounding areas.
The theme of Black iD is to inspire and create dialogue about the black narrative in America. The first Black Identity held last year at The Carr Center featured 50 artists and brought out over 500 guests opening night. The exhibition spanned the entire month of February during Black History Month in which there were different events each weekend of the month to keep up engagement and attract a wider audience. We plan to expand on the platform we have created and provide a bigger and better show each year.

"Black Identity is an experience, we hope the audience sees a reflection of themselves just as the exhibition is a reflection us"
